<< The Brief Introduction of Lienchiang County Hospital>>

Matsu Health Yuan was established in 1956. It was located in Fuhshing Village of Nangan Township and the medical service was its main professional work. In July 1956, the name was changed to Lienchiang County Health Yuan.

The government affairs of the battle zone were carried out under martial law in Matsu Island since 1949. Army doctors provided the medical services for outpatient department and ward. Then Dr. Yan Suan- Sheng, the first local doctor took over the office, which was moved to the recent address in 1986. Under our efforts, we have been the first choice of hospital to visit when the local peoples are sick.

At the end of martial law, Matsu Health Yuan was changed name to Lienchiang County Hospital that belonged to Lienchiang county health bureau in July 1993. The new medical building was finished and provided 50 sickbeds for local people in January 2001. There is a total of 100 sickbeds available when we add in the 50 sickbeds in Matsu Army Hospital.

There are 11 departments: internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, rehabilitation, dentistry, nursing, medical laboratory diagnosis, pharmacy, and medical radiation diagnosis. The hospital also provides upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, colonscopy, and sonography examination. But it needs more specialists and doctors to join in.

Since air travel has become more and more convenient, the emergency first aid helicopter has also been added to the hospital’s services. It provides an extra safeguard for local people’s life. Besides, we have implemented the program of integrated delivery system (IDS) that supported by the Bureau of National Health Insurance for 3 years, and it make great success in cooperation with Taipei City Hospital. There are many medical doctors being invited and taking office in our hospital under the plan of IDS.

Now we invite you to join us in serving the local people in these beautiful islands, and let the green islands be a promised land for all.
